This is the bottom of Manual #1;

Norway copyright is trumped by US copyright laws.

So 1986 + 95 years or 120 years means you can legally download and print after 2081 or 2106.

That would be true for a person in the US downloading them. I assume there are members from other countries like Norway that use this site and that site also. Besides, I was just explaining that the owner of the boatinfo site does not have the same liability as we do. US copyright laws do not take precedent in some other countries as we all know (see China)

Would printing be in violation of the copyright?

Maybe, but what about all the posts here with images of pages from the manuals? I suppose some would say that just a page or two is ok, but at what number does that stop?

Also, if we are just talking about Mercruiser, didn't they give away all the manuals a few years ago by free online download? If so, doesn't that set a precedent? Just a thought.

When did the West Coast of Florida get annexed by a foreign country? US copyright laws apply to you, no matter the source of the material.

Since Brunswick owns the copyrights, they can do whatever they want with their manuals. The giveaway, if there was one, was under the control of Brunswick and for a limited period of time.

Showing a page or two probably falls under the "fair use" provision.

Now stop the defending and do what you want. Be thankful that Boatinfo is back for now and can be used a reference.

Why are you getting angry, it's just a discussion?..

It is not a discussion! You are advocating violating laws and iBoats will not be a party.

It is best to treat Boatinfo as a library. You can't take books out of a library and keep them without consequences.

Not one more word on this subject will be tolerated.

In fact this thread is closed.

Have you been in a library that didn't have a copy machine? It's to copy a page or two, not for making a copy of an entire book. Same with printing at Boatinfo - A page or two falls under fair use.
