if this is a wet slip hoist for a boathouse, probably ok
if an outdoor lift, I'd go with 2800 minimum and probably 3200

but I have an 18 footer on a 10,000lb capacity railway... I'm a fan of going huge on lifts... I've seen rainstorm + plug left in crumple an aluminum lift into a pretzel that a boat had to be sawed out of.
I'm actually a fan of railways over lifts any day, but not everyone has the right real estate for a railway.
