I was lifting my boat from the water sunday and it seems the clicking, or locking it does isnt working now. If I were to let go of the wheel it would be heading straight back to the water. I looked by the gears for something, and didnt see anything, i thought maybe it was like the clicker(lock) on the trailer when cranking up the boat onto the trailer, but no such luck. right now i have a chain holding the wheel to the frame.

anyone?

Definitively not the same type as your trailer. Otherwise when you un latch to go back down the wheel would free spin backwards until the boats hits the water!

I think there called positive crank or something.

Re: boat lift, not locking?

ok, little more info here.

I just opened up the houseing to take a look inside, it appears the lock is used by a spring pushing on the little stopper that goes between the gear.
So pressure is applied to the stopper, and it stops, but it seems the metal broke and the spring came out of its grove which is why this isnt working.

So the boat lift is made by hewitt, and I cannot seem to find parts anywhere online or a manual.

anyone got any leads?

I'm sure you can buy the same or similar from any other boat lift company.

All the ones I've ever owned are held back by friction only. I just tighten the wheel enough to get it to tighten so it won't roll back. Call tech support before you buy a new box. May be simple.
