I have a 1990 Maxum 16’ bowrider with a 50 hp Force outboard. I have bad torque steer to the right and the boat list to port. The motor had a bent skeg when I bought it, but I have since straightened it and no help. Can anyone give me a clue as to what I should be looking for so I can correct this problem?

Thanks

To the Beach, A few ???s. First, is your boat loaded correctly (where's your gas tank, battery, etc.)? 2nd, is your motor absolutely perpendicular to your hull? 3rd, are you SURE your skeg's absolutely straight? 4th, is the torque pull constant and at any speed? 5th, what was the loading of your boat (just you, full tank of gas, etc.)?
Not to profess that by knowing this info I'd have any clue to the answers to your problems, but I'm definitely curious. I have a '97 19' Maxum 4.3L.
Thanks!
Happy Boating!
Brian

Re: Boat list to port on full throttle

Look to see if there is a small fin in front of the anti-cavitation plate (the largest horizontal plate, it is above the prop). As you are facing the prop, you want to rotate the rear edge (closest egde towards you) of this fin in the direction that the boat is pulling. Do it in 1/8th inch increments, it does not take much to correct the pull. You will need to take some tools with you and just do trial and error till you have it right. Good luck...
