I have a 1990 Maxum 16’ bowrider with a 50 hp Force outboard. I have bad torque steer to the right and the boat list to port. The motor had a bent skeg when I bought it, but I have since straightened it and no help. Can anyone give me a clue as to what I should be looking for so I can correct this problem?

Thanks

Check to see if the engine is centered on the boat. Try a higher pitch prop. Check for damage to the bottom of the boat<----usually done by the trailer.

TMD

your trim tab could be out of wack. Its alittle fin that sits right above the prop.

Thanks for the tip chads, which direction (left or right) should the rear of the trim tab be adjusted in order to compensate for my boat pulling hard to starboard and listing to port?

If the Steering is stiff it will help. Pulling harder one way and not the other. If thats what you are talking about.. There is no real procedure for setting a trim tab. Its set to more of a personal preference. Just remember where it was incase it does not help. But for S**Ts and giggles I would set it in the center for refrence. Then give it a twist one way. other than the way it was and see what it does. Make sence? Just rememeber... SMALL adjustments on this thing makes HUGE differences... Good Luck. These other guys may have a better description for doing this..

If your boat is still listing.. Check to see if its sitting balanced when just floating. not moving. if its not... then you have got to get stuff. grear/people more evenly distrubuted in the boat.. that boat is small and it wont take much to throw it off...
