Boat lists to the side

When I'm running hard, my bass boat lists to the left side. The more power the more it leans. There's no noticable pull on the steering wheel, the boat just leans to the left. There are no trim tabs on the boat. The motor is a 70hp Evinrude.

I noticed there is a rudder-type thingie just above the prop. If I adjust this, will it help?

I also thought that maybe the motor is cocked and not in perfect allignment with the hull. Would this cause the problem?

Thanks,
KF

Symptom sounds like motor not plumb on transom perhaps.you can determine that by a few measurements. The trim tab is what Ibelieve you are refering to above the prop.this allows you to counter adjust forces from motor in relation to steering pull.If you have no feed back steering box you won't feel as much .if boat pulls to right move tab to right and if it pulls left move to left.Water check after any adj.Could also be weight distribution problem which will be more noticable when boat is planing or any combination thereof.

Put 2 extra cases of beer on right side of boat. Could be motor torgue at that certain rpm, Does it lean when at trolling speed,or when at the dock tied up???

A3dad,Check your boat at rest If it list to the port(left) There may be too much weight on that side or possibly water in the flotation foam under the floor.
Deep v bottoms will sometimes tend to run on
one side usually the left because of propeller torque.Thats why steering is on the right.
Check the weight distribution,Be sure motor is properly placed.Adjustable tabs will help but
I would consider it a last resort.

All,

When the boat is at rest, it floats level, so its not a weight distribution problem. I even tried moving some weight (beer) ;) to the right side of the boat to compensate, but it didn't make a difference.

I'll check the motor for plum.

Thanks,
KF

Measure from the top left corner of the transom to the tip of the skag. Then from the top right corner of the transom to the tip of the skag. The two measurements should be the same.
