Re: Boat manuals

Hi Carrier,

This was actually one of the first questions that I asked on this forum myself. The long and short answer is that you can't. There just aren't really any user manuals out there for boats.. Especially older boats.

What you really need to get your hands on is a good repair manual for your engine and outdrive (assuming I/O). Boats are extremely simple creatures, except for the complicated mechanical bits at the end.

What year boats? What engine? What drive? Most folks here should be able to point you in the right direction with that information.

Re: Boat manuals

It is an I/O. The engine is a 165 horse inline 6 mercruser. Reciently rebuilt as well as the out drive. The maintenance to the engine isnt a concern for me (decient with engines) the out drive is the concern.

Re: Boat manuals

Brother, you sound just like me!

I had done complete frame off restos on 5-6 vehicles before I bought my first boat.. Engine? Not a problem! I could probably rebuild it underwater.... Outdrive? Yikes. I was terrified to touch the thing.

I bought 2 manuals for the outdrive. Best investment I've made. What outdrive and what year?

Re: Boat manuals

back on topic - go to the I/O forum for information on your I/O.

Check out the "adults only" sticky - you can even download (free) FACTORY service manuals for you engine and drive.

next - hit amazon etc for a copy of chapmans.
