Re: Boat names.

Sorry, but you asked! As a front row observer to the infamous Disco-Demolition at the old Comisky Park in Chicago, I would have to make every effort to convince you to hold out for something better. While we are all guilty of tapping our feet to "Staying Alive", at one time or another, Disco SUNK ! How about "HAZY DAZE" or "SEVEN-T's", or how about " I KNOW IT'S ONLY ROCK-N-ROLL BUT I LIKE IT" ! Just a suggestion.

Good Luck
have not done it yet.....was only thinking about that due to the date of the boat, time we met, 1976, boat in water (like a duck) that sort of thing. Other possible name was "no reruns" after a saying my mom quotes quite often (live for today, no reruns in life). Still thinking....not sure what to name it.

Re: Boat names.

We have a 14' Starcraft Falcon. We call my daughter Bean, and the boat is greenish. So it was almost Green Bean, but it's small so it ended up being "Lil Bean"

Re: Boat names.

On the way to pick up my boat when i bought it, dude came on the radio to announce the passing of Ronnie James Dio. I was almost in tears! Maybe not as famous as others, but to those who knew of him he was a metal god. After tossing a few ideas around I settled on "RAINBOW IN THE DARK". maybe not too creative, but I wanted something that screamed "METAL" so who better than RJD

Bought a 32' Carver aft cabin in Oct. and can't stand the name...............so given my heritage I am renaming her "Irish Wake".........renaming ceremony to follow!

Re: Boat names.

"EMPTY POCKETS" has been the name on all my boats. I think most of you can figure this one out. Although maybe I should have named them ROCK FINDER, seems I find all of them.

Re: Boat names.

Just got the lettering from iBoats for my boats name, "Serenity"

Name is 2 fold;
1st it is how I feel when I am on it.
2nd named after the "boat" in the series "Firefly" and the movie "Serenity"

Re: Boat names.

I've had the 88 Baja for two years now. It's not had a name.
I thought of "FARFRMWURKEN" because it reminds me of the old "FARVERGNUGEN" advertising theme that VW cars once had.
I really like the name "MY MISSED STRESS" but the spouse won't go for it. It really is my missed stress because i so love to work on the boat and get it top notch. I think the name is a little clever, a little suggestive without going over the top, and requires a little reading between the lines. To me those are great attributes to a boat's name.

We have 2 daughters and they grew up reading the Harry Potter books. The name is now decided, over my slight objection. It is "PORT KEY" although it may be spelled out "PORT QUAY" which is more nautical and has a Celtic heritage as do I. In the Harry Potter stories a port key is a magical object which transports one to another place.
A quay is a structure built parallel to the bank of a waterway for use as a landing place.
Synonyms: float, jetty, landing, levee, pier, quai, dock, wharf

Re: Boat names.

Mine was easy, needed the wife to be interested. First boat was "Arlene". Second was "Arlene II". The third came about because she loved the interior color scheme when we went looking, "Arlene's Idea". And the 4th was obivious, "Arlene's Idea Again" It has been a great conversation starter when traveling and sitting on the back of the boat at a new marina.

Re: Boat names.

Wow JB. It's been slow at the dealership today so I just sat in my office and read every post in this thread. Awesome names. My 1st boat (24' Crest Pontoon) is named the "Tiny Teddy" which was mine and my college roommates nicknames. My 2nd boat (1987 20' CHAPARRAL 200 XLC) I am going tomorrow to purchase it and I've been thinking of names. Here are some possible names that I like and some I have seen in this thread that I am considering.
- Knot Guilty (because I am always innocent)
- ɔıuɐd ʇ,uop (this is very funny to me)
- Rammer Jammer (cause I'm a bama fan and it's part of my favorite chant)
- skinnit back (Cause this thing has a effing V8)
- One Toke Over (the line)

Re: Boat names.

The first and second boat we owned did not have room for a name, thus, no name.

The third boat, a SeaRay 270 DA was named "DanMar's Dream". A abbreviated use of our first names.
Fourth boat. a Sea Ray 220 Sundeck, was named "Sotally Tober".
The fifth and present boat, a Monterey 302CR is named "Bobbie Trap".

This is the last boat. IT is too difficult naming them.

Re: Boat names.

I've been thinking of names for my '78 Glastron V173 for a while. I think I'm going with "Turnip Blood". My boat is not the prettiest one out there because I don't have the extra funds to really fix her up. So as the old saying goes. "You can't get blood from a turnip." Plus my last name is Bloodworth. So what do yall think?

Re: Boat names.

Moved up to the first boat that I've given a name last year.

I didn't realize what I was getting into when I bought a 1972 OMC Stringer and Theology is my other hobby, so I named the boat "Fide'." That's the Latin word for "faith," and that's pretty much how we boat ... with a '72 OMC we go out by faith, and come back in by faith :D
