Re: Boat names.

22ft Carver - SOBEIT - dads' boat dad named it.
17.5 Larson - The larson
25ft cruisers - Advancing - Well I had just rid myself of my house, truck, dog, job, thanks to my ex-wife. I sold the larson to buy it and it was already named Advancing - It called to me and it was so much better looking than my ex-wife, and so fitting to my current situation - so I bought it.

Tow vehicle 94 Bronco with 351W - Name: Mighty

The only thing that has been able to stop this truck is the gas gauge.

Re: Boat names.

My Chris Craft is named "off the hook"
I own a towing company and the phone rings off the hook, most times.
Sometimes I'd like to take the phone off the hook,(the constant ringing will drive ya nuts).
And when I'm on the boat,I'm off the hook(wrecker)
And there 's always the story of the ONE big fish that got away, off the hook.

Kevin

Re: Boat names.

Since this post was revived, I'll add my two cents.

First time boat owner, "RUFF H2O", not entirely original but it goes with my last name.

Re: Boat names.

I don't know how many of you have seen Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, or remember it, but it's one of my 2 boys' favorite movies (mine too).

In this movie, the dad buys an old piece of junk car, and transforms it into something of beauty.
It ends up having real nice varnished wood, double cockpit, and a bright polished hood. It was painted black and red. He built it all out in his workshop, then took the kids on adventures they would never forget. They named the car Chitty after the sound that it made.

A year ago, I bought my old Crestliner, which wasn't trashed, but wasn't pretty either. I gave it a double cockpit, nice varnished wood seats, and a polished front and middle deck (out in my workshop of course). When I was "done" (they're never "done"), I thought I would paint it next year, (which is now). I was thinking of colors, and I decided on keeping the deck shiny, the sides black, and the bottom red.

Well, all last summer, we had some great adventures on that boat, and many more to come I'm sure. It finally occured to me, that my boat reminded me slightly of Chitty, the way it sounded, and the way it was made, and was starting to look. So, it goes without saying, I'm thinking of naming my boat Chitty.

Waddya think?

Ya, I know, kinda corny. :D

I'm not sure about the scarf, but the goggles wouldn't be a bad idea - no windshield.

Re: Boat names.

Here's mine;
1st boat, 15' Arkansas Traveler, 40 hp Johnson.
Wife's name is Karen, named boat Karentoo.
2nd boat, (& my all time favorite) 17' Dargal plywood bay boat, 90 hp Evinrude.
Named boat Karentoo II.
3rd boat, 17' Caravelle, 165 hp Mercruiser.
Named boat Karentoo III.
4th & current boat, 21' Dolphin products runabout, 175 hp Evinrude.
Named boat (you'll never guess) Karentoo IV.

First tow vehicle was a '68 Plymouth Custom Suburban station wagon named "Lemon". It was even the right color. (I hated that car but it was a great tow vehicle).
2nd tow vehicle, '71 Thunderbird named unoriginally "The Bird".
Next came a '72 Dodge pickup. Great tow vehicle named "Old Yellow". It was, according to Dodge, Super Banana Yellow. I bought it anyway.
Finally is the present tow vehicle, an '83 Dodge Ramcharger named (are you ready for this?) the "Old Goat". This is also a great vehicle and I wrote a tow test about it which was featured in "Trailer Boats" back in '84 or so.

Karen and I have owned a '79 MGB which we named the "Limey", an '83 Jaguar named the "Crimson Cat" (it was red), and my present ride a '97 Lincoln MkVIII named "Blackie". (Of course it's black).
Karen's Cadillac is yet unnamed, she refers to it as "Caddy". That may become it's name.
Karen named our airplane "PJ", short for puddle jumper. It's a Piper Cherokee 140 and the name fits.
Yes JB, we also name almost everything.
Bill......

Not trying to get off topic, but that boat sounds fascinating, I'd love to hear more about it, and see some pictures.

Please let me know if you make (or already have) a post somewhere else about it.
