Re: Boat Names

A loud, off-shore style Fountain boat pulled up next to my grandfather, me, and my parents when I was 12 or so. There were scantily clad girls woooo-hoooing and hoisting beers while a couple guys tried to get next to the dock. They turned so the rear of the boat was facing us and the first thing I noticed was my dyed-in-the-wool, Church of Christ conservative Grandfather start sputtering and getting visibly agitated.

The name of the boat was "Wet Dream". And at 12, I certainly caught the double entendre.

Re: Boat Names

First Boat was the "What Plug". Suffice to say that I named in AFTER the first voyage and NO I won't explain.

Second boat never had a name. We "disagreed" about it for a couple of years.

After ditching the disagreeable one,( not the boat either) I saved a ton of money for the year I spent in Iraq. When I came home, I sold no name, and bought a 22 foot Thompson Cuddy with the savings from my year in Iraq.

Name? Spoils of War.

And yes, it get's comments...

Re: Boat Names

I started out with a 1986 KTM dirtbike I bought used and neglected. I fixed it up and traded it for my first boat which I named "Katie M" My grandfather had a 16' grady white named "Square Knot", but my favorite name is on my new boat "Tomorrows Treasures"

My wife and i named out boat Loose change. because we bought it literally with loose change. I bought it with the money I recycle my copper wire from work.

I have a little 12' Sea King tinny, vintage 1964. Ugly little thing, it is, too, but it's great for fishing little waters.

I named it NotLund. Nice big Vinyl letters in the Lund boat style.

It has a 9.9 hp Sears Gamefisher outboard on it. The vinyl decals had peeled of the cowling, so I got new ones that say NotEvenRude.

Silly, but it gets a laugh on the lake.

Re: Boat Names

bought a new 21 foot glastron deck boat and had many names picked out Moby Deck, Off Coors, boatruptcy, but saw one name that said SoaknFused, I took it one step further and named mine Soak n Seated (so conceited) I wanted a name that looked innocent for teh kids and my religous dad but still garnered some attention. Since the boat seats 13 people and we were going to the lake to cool off, the name had two meanings. One for the fun times and one when to mind my P's and Q's.

I get compliments on it all of the time.

I also installed a 6 foot movie screen on front and bring out an old projector to watch movies, play video games and let the girls sing kareoke. If you see me on the lake watching movies, pull up and enjoy the show.

Re: Boat Names

My cousin and I replaced the outboard engines on our boats at approximately the same time this year, both late 70's 85hp Evinrudes. His is still faster than my Skeeter for some reason, so I sarcastically refer to his sparkly, coffee colored Cajun as the "Brown Streak".

"you coming over after work"?

"yep"

"you bringing Brown Streak"?

"Screw you. And yes".

Re: Boat Names

We had to choose quickly a name for my boat. Four of us (Our Two Best Friends). We thought for two days and finally He came up with the name "OWN-IT" Because I paid cash for it. I do "OWN-IT"
He was with me the day we Sea Trialed it and I bought it. The Survey was already completed before Sea Trial.

Re: Boat Names

All the wood in mine is so encapsulated in fiberglass, I think it could sink, stay submerged for a few decades, be recovered, and still be usable. Makes it heavy too.
