Re: Boat Names

Well I shall tell you the story of one of the times I have made a moron of myself.

We used to sit out on our patio set in the summer months, me my wife, and our friends, just having good times chatting. Telling stories and stuff.

Every time we would see a nice toy which was usually a fella in a nice car, myself and Josh would say "MINE!" (like the seagulls in finding nemo) and stake our imaginary claim. First one to spot it would win.

One day I saw a ford explorer towing along a nice 249 Bayliner bowrider.. I said "MINE!!" Josh said.. "No it aint!!"

On the side and rear of the boat it's name was, "Still Mine."

Guess he trumped me and won the divorce.. lol

Re: Boat Names

My 22 foot Bayliner is named; "FISHINATOR". I saw a cool name last summer on a sweet (expensive) powerboat in Pentwater MI; "X-S CASH".

Re: Boat Names

What happens when you let your 6yr old son name the boat? Well our 1990 Bayliner Capri now sports the name "WEDGIE" :D

Re: Boat Names

my 82' Glassmaster 18' Daytona is appropriatly named "Wrek A-Mended" due to the condition it was before i started restoration
but it is also built very well and is great for it size, hence the recommended play on words in the name

Re: Boat Names

The first time I ever drove a boat was the first time out in my IMP last summer. I had an experianced boater with me and my wife, who is of course an expert in everything. Everything went great all day long other than the boat would sometimes stall going into gear. When it came time to dock the boat this mechanical issue got worse. That and my inexperiance led to a impact with the dock that was hard enough to draw a crowd. The whole time my wife is standing up in the boat yelling and screaming for me to let her drive. I very calmly got us out of the situation and named the boat "Don't Panic"

THe stalling issue has since been corected, and I'm a much better driver now.

Re: Boat Names

I took a hunky dory boat plan and built it. During the build I put in a tunnel for an outboard jet. Then I built a wheel house and a cabin on it . The wheel house has a door in front leading to a forward deck. None like it around here so I named it Y-Knott

Re: Boat Names

I just recieved orders to my first tour of "shore duty" At NAF Mayport Fl.

I had the fishing fever and purchased an old glastron 19 feet I think with a 75 Sea King.

Started and ran great on the muffs. Think I paid $300 way back in then half a month's pay for a young sailor.

Took it out and it would go a few miles then stop, so I would fish let the engine cool off then it would start again and off to a new spot, or until the engine died again.

After a few trips out of this my wife refused to go out on the boat any more. She said "Every time we go out I feel like I have to be towed back."

The coil was faulty and after replacing it I usd that old engine until it had not enough compression to run any more, really drank alot of gas before she refused to run.

I got a lot of smiles and some out right laughing at the dock when I launched or loaded.

The name on the back of the boat in big 4 inch letters "TOW BACK".

I had alot of fun in that old boat, taking NAVY buddies and coolers of beers, cause never knew when the boat would stop running due to bad coil, around workd they would ask me when was the next trip on TOW BACK?
