Boat not trimming in higher speeds

Got my boat on the water today and I gave it throttle to get on plane. When I tried to trim out, it would not do it. I tried for a few minutes and could not get it to trim out. So I throttled down to a slow speed and attempted to trim and it worked. It would trim all the way out of the water. It was very aggravating. I didn't let it get me down though, my wife and I still fished (with no luck there either) we just cruised slowly lol. I'd greatly appreciate it if someone could give me some advice or pointers. I may be doing something wrong. This is my first boat and I hope I'm just making a rookie mistake.

By the way, it's a 1988 140 Evinrude on a 1995 Baymaster 1850 tunnel hull boat.

Check the fluid level in it which is done in the full tilt position.

When you have any T/T probs the first place you start is to check the oil level.

I found the problem. It was a rookie mistake. I left the bar in the adjustment holes in the far back hole. Right at the end of the trim cylinder rod so it was trying to tilt.
