I am going to have my boat out all week on the water.A couple nights forecast to get down to 28 degrees.I plan on driving the boat each evening before campfire to warm up the block (I/O). If left on the water there is little chace of theblock freezing... right? Water temp is about 55 degrees. Just want some opinions here, has anybody had or herd of a block cracking under similar circumstances?-Blair

Yes, little chance. . . Residual heat from the engine running in the evening, plus big heat source of the boat being in the water.

I've seen boats in the water that had ice around them. And its neat to see a small boat "busting" ice while heading out for some fall fishing. The motor won't freeze, but the live bait left onboard sure will :)

I'd start her up and go for a short spin in the morning as well just to get her heated up again. I'd say if you are going to do this on a regular basis, install a closed cooling system. But the lake should remain warm enough for this trip.
