I tend to disagree with right wing positions less often than I disagree with left wing positions.

I would prefer not to be labeled either.

I am neither and pretty much feel the way QC does...

But I want to start my own party...

I suppose it would be more of an organization than a party. Maybe even more of a methodology than an organization. I call it "Quondam". Basically, my party would have one simple rule: We never, under any circumstance, vote for an incumbent. This applies to all levels of government - City Councils, Mayors, Governors, State Senators, US Senators, US House, and US President. Our principal belief is that if we take the career out of politics, we will eventually have constituent represention instead of Representative representation. It would be the end of lobbys, the end of corporate ties, the end of the "network", and the return of the government to the citizens.

Anybody want to join?

I would like to see how it breaks down by boat value. Like are most owners of nice expensive newer boats predominantly republicans and owners of old ratboats democrats?

To be honest, I don't really care what someone's polictical leanings are when I'm boating or fishing with them. I know we can at least agree on one thing, our love of the sport.

I would guess that since boating and fishing is as diverse as the people who enjoy it, that its a pretty even mix.

Both choices seem hollow to me. I compromise, you get little voice. The honorable part was that you are putting your eggs in a basket you believe in. I thought it was a compliment . . .

There are more issues than just your personal voice. There is a need for some defensive moves too. I think we both would agree that more power to the left is at least equally troubling. I intended my comments to mean that my compromise is less honorable than your effectively weaker position.

BTW, I was deeply opposed to our basically two party system when I was younger. That's why I am undeclared. Today, I believe that the one of the two parties in power, closest to ones values is where one should put all of his/her eggs. I also believe that two parties is the way it will always evolve. Yes, a new one may emerge, but it will be at the expense of another.

Actually no and I don't recall the link. I did research the American Independent Party and I am trying to recall the specific guy you noted as closest to your views, I thought he was a US Rep, but I can't find him now. I was impressed with him, pretty tough upstream swim though. Can you get me his name again please?

I've been advocating that "term limit" and "anti-corruption" theory the whole time I've been on here, but can never seem to conjure up any support. Guess it just isn't divisive enough to generate any real interest. I mean, what fun would it be if the system actually worked?

I hold a lot of far left and far right views, so I can't lay claim to either major party and I'm sure they don't want to lay claim to me. Guess you could call me politically ambidextrous.

I struggle with term limits. I guess I naively think Elections are term limits for the suckiest incumbents . . . I guess if we weren't sucky voters, they would be.

I think it's interesting that few claim allegiance to either the Democratic or Republican party, but all seem willing to fight to the end to defend it's positions.

OK, I own a number of "ratboats" n' I'm a poor INDEPENDENT Cornservative, (me parents, [also middle class folks], bought RR island in 1956, n' I could never afford it today). One of me favorite pols in the left coast state where I live is a Democrat. The State Auditor: Democrat Brian Sontag. I really liked ol' Scoop Jackson, (Dem) too. I generally vote Republican, unless the election has been called when I may throw away me vote to a third party. I don't want term limits because the Democrats are far better at usin' their natural advantages in the media n' academia, n' many Americans do not pay attention, or maybe they do, (and really like lot's o' corruption n' victimhood n' vote Dem). I like the present two party system for one real simple reason: This country works better then any in the history of this li'l rock we all live on. If more Americans would study history, n' pay attention to real facts rather then emotions or shallow slogans: well then the best would be better IMHO, or maybe not so humble or outright arrogant opinion. BTW, I have worked for very wealthy people most of my adult life, (including now). There is not a correlation of wealth = Republican or Poor = Democrat. 'Course I live in a very blue n' beautiful state. Respectfully, JR ps It rains constantly, (or nearly constantly), so please don't move here!8)8)

I'm an AMERICAN, and when I vote, I vote for who I believe will be best for my country. Party affiliation will always come second. I can't in good conscience vote for incompetance just because I belong to a certain party, hence, I belong to no party. I could care less what that makes me look like, because I gave 11 years to my country to be able to vote any damn way I want....

If I where told I must choose a party or my boat will be taken away, then that party would be Republican. As QC says, I have more eggs in the Right basket than I do in the Left...
