Boat Paint Lines and Colors - Suggestions Needed!

Okay, I'm painting the topsides/cap and the planing surface white and the hull sides blue.

My question is about the bow... Would you paint what I've filled in with RED, blue or white? I'm asking because that area is above the waterline, but, the planing surface of the hull rises up to there... You can see what I mean by the picture in my avitar... Same boat.

Decisions, decisions decisions!!!

White. Unless you're going for the flag look.

Most paint schemes that are two color have the sides one color and the Bottom (including your red portion) the other... I would paint it white with the bottom...

THANKS! I just didn't know!

GAME ON!

I'm putting my materials list together and coming up with my "plan"... LONG thread coming soon!

I've printed the Top 10 Steps of Restoration Denial we tell ourselves about our little projects and taping it in front of me at work (I can't put it up at home because I've already told my wife all but #10)

The 10 steps of restoration denial:

1. That soft spot just needs a patch
2. The foam will dry out
3. It's just the deck, the stringers are fine
4. I don't have to pull the engine; I can work around it (I've already pulled my outboard though)
5. The transom feels solid
6. I won't have to remove the cap, plenty of room
7. I will just buy a couple of gallons of resin
8. $1,000 is plenty for a job like this
9. I should be on the water by the end of the month
10. I need a beer! Nothing is going as planned!

I would go with the white...

However it is your preference in the end...

I am doing a similar layout only I am doing the white area higher up,
and then painting the keel the same as the upper portion...

I would consider painting a higher white section. That way the white (red) section won't look so out of place when the boat is stationary. It will always look two-tone as opposed to having a lip of white in front for some unknown reason.

Ayuh,.... The hull lines of my barge are similar,...

My topsides are White,...
The sides are Blue,...
The waterline on down, as well as the area you have in Red, is Grey...
So,....
I guess I'd agree with everybody,+ say to carry the bottom color forward..

Look at my avatar for my answer :D. I did the bottom inclusing what you show in red in white the sides are red and the top will be white . My interior will match except for the deck which will most likely be gray since it wont stain as bad as white would :D.

Good deal...

I'll probably have at least 2 inches of white above the boat's water line at rest. That way, with a livewell full, full tank of gas, my wife and me on the boat, we'll still be "sitting pretty"!!!

I just showed my wife all of the disconnections at the helm that I've done and still have to do... She's REALLY glad I took a zillion pictures with the digital camera before and during the electrical disconnections! I'm colorblind, so she's told me she'd BETTER be there for the re-connection.

I guess that since I'm in the dismantle phase, I should at least start the REAL "Restoration" thread!

I'm just trying to really plan out what I want to do, how I'm going to do it so I can build my materials list. When it's time to roll, I should be ready for anything ... NOT!!!!!!!!
