Needing help with choosing new paint for our house boat. We have used Interlux Brightside paint every year for the blue trim. It fades and chalks within a year and must be repainted every year. Looking for what you use and how long it has lasted. Outside uncovered all the time.

Most probably rolling and tipping. Spraying will prove difficult while at dock.

Is it wood or glass that you're painting? IMHO any paint with decent UV protection will work but the KEY is to apply a Good UV resistant Clear Coat over the paint. Automobile clear coat would be a good choice.

It’s fiberglass, automotive clear not an option because spaying at the dock would not work because of environmental issues.

I would go with a UV stable vinyl stripe.

Texture of the surface will not allow me to use vinyl. It is only the strip at roof line and the one off the deck on sidewall. The one in the middle section of the sidewall is base coat clear and has never needed repair in the years I have owned the boat.

Well,.... My local Napa carries PPG paints,.....

Their line of fleet paint is called Prism,.... it's a 2-pt. poly based paint,.....
If ya get the "Anti-graphitti"(sp) hardener rather than the other hardeners available for it,...
Then mixed, 'n brushed, rolled, or sprayed on,.....
Once hard, 'n dry,.... Even other paints won't stick to it,......

We painted a hull with this stuff in red, several yearts ago,...... no fadin' as of yet,.....
When the boot stripe was painted on with another oil/ enamel paint, 'n allowed to dry,....
The boat was launched,..... within a day, the boot stripe washed off,.....
Had to pull the boat, 'n used stripe tape to put the boot stripe back on, which is now an annual affair,......

Of course, the draw-back is it's Expensive,....
