For the age of that boat, it looks like it has never touched the water! That is a beautiful boat! Are you sure you will be happy with something else? Newer does not mean better.

Re: Boat pictures for Ebay

I bought it from a guy who had bought it new in 1981.It lived most of its life in a boat house on a lake a couple hours from here.
The old guy had some serious health issues and got where he could not drive it anymore.
It was left in his boat house for over 2 years and never started.
The lower unit on the motor was totally corroded away.
It took me a ton of work to get the scum off the hull.
I replaced the lower unit and proceeded to fix everything else.
So i am the second owner of the boat.

I'd say $5500. Chris Craft are nice boats. Not sure the quality of their newer boats like yours, but if it's anything like their earlier fiberglass boats it's solid and built to last. Looks to be in excellent condition.

Not my style of boat so to me it's not worth half waht you're asking, but from the pictures it looks to b ein excellent condition, and if outboards are your thing you just can't beat those old Johnnyrudes.

Edit: Just looked up your value in NADA Guides and they say $1300. Looked up my boat again just for kicks and they say $5700 now, a month ago they said $7500. Something funky? Your boat's definitely worth more than $1300.

NADA is useless now days.Except for about new boats the NADA values are hard to go by.
I'm sure i will get some knucklehead that will low ball me on the price because he looked it up on NADA..
7500 to 5700 in a month? Wow thats insane....Shows you what they know.
The market has a lot to do with what they list values at too.
We all know the market is in the crapper...:(

Well, I see you have the "old Cadillac" out for a few pictures!! Seriously, I too feel you should set a reserve of $5500 and see where it goes from there. Unfortunately my Renken Seamaster 1880 has been on craigslist for about two weeks and not one call!
I started a litlle high just because of the overall condition of boat, motor and trailer. It is half the age of yours, but has all the original 35th anniversary decals, original sales brochure and other goodies, but not one bite.
Your sweeeet ol ride should garner a lot more interest, and ebay is probably a better market for a boat like yours. Let us know when it gets posted. I would like to follow it for a while..
Good luck, and you shure have done a great job of putting her back together! ;):)

I would hold on to it. Right now is not the time to be selling anything that could require a loan for some people. The market is flooded right now with used boats, as repo, and need cash quick hit the market. Since the boat is paid for I would hold it. You later can use it a collateral ect. The book value will not drop that much as collateral, but the buying price will drop.

Hold the boat

Yes...I will be looking for an open bow.Something a bit smaller.
I would keep this boat if i lived closer to the coast but all my boating is on lakes.

BAAA HAAA HAAA I got a 90 b-liner 19 footer ill sell ya :D

nada cannot take in all variables....that boat is an exception.

cryin shame you gotta sell gary......im drooling all over it.....

the pic thing.....as suggested about closer shots of the boat...

as far as the price....im in canada so that is a steal up here.....people in vancouver would pay a few k over that price for a boat like that.......

but remember your target market....you dont just want someone that wants a boat....you want someone that knows what a chris craft is...and then knows what a restored chris craft is.....that why we are all drooling because we know what it is......because of this....i would not put it on e with out a reserve...

all my best to ya bud

cheers

Re: Boat pictures for Ebay

Gary, not trying to hijack your thread....but my earlier post about not getting any action on my craigslist ad ended this morning. Our boats aren't comparable, but it sold to the first guy that looked at it.
My boat was a 93 Renken Seamaster 1880 with a 93 Yamaha 85 & a 2002 galvanized trailer. It sold for $4800. I made a few bucks and the boat got me back into boating this past spring. I did have some original paperwork, sales brochure, etc and the boat still had all it's original 35th anniversary decals on it, so a little more than your standard center console.
I think you should follow krakatoa's post and list it high with a reserve of $5500. You don't know what it may get bid up to. After all it's a beautiful and unusual boat. :)

Re: Boat pictures for Ebay

I have sometimes wondered about posts here where someone might be kind
of using the forum to sell a boat and requesting price advice as an opener.

Don't worry, as I am not suggesting you are doing that, and I have to admit
that I am in somewhat of a confused state now. You see, I am lusting for
your boat. I have always told folks that someday I would have a ChrisCraft.

What a boat! Have mercy on me...

Re: Boat pictures for Ebay

Man guys, you got me thinking about keeping it a while now..
Had it out on the water all day today! It was nice, mid 70's with winds around 20.
Had her up on plane and just skipping across the chop and realized how good it really rides.
I think it knows i'm thinking about selling it because it ran better than it ever has...Perfect all day. I had a full belly of fuel(80 gallons) ,five people on board, coolers ect and it turned 45 mph on the little hand held GPS.

Ok,you all talked me into it....keep until spring at least!

No,Dang it! The GF forgot her camera...
She was busy with her kids and the grand baby!
I'm going to make one more trip before i wrap the boat up for the winter.

I noticed a lot of people fishing for Stripers yesterday so i'm going back for a day of fishing next week!;)

Re: Boat pictures for Ebay

put a big wireless troller on the bow, and keep it. you will be hard pressed to find a real replacement. my deckboat looks better and better, thought about going to a 260, with holding tank. $ difference was rediculous.

Good for you but I think you just created a resounding UUUUGGGGGHHH across the board for the folks hitting refresh on 'Chris Craft' searches on eBay.:(

Its certainly one beautiful boat.

Thanks Nelson...lol!
You never know...come spring it may end up getting put on Ebay anyway.
Depends on if i see another great deal on a new project boat..;)

TD, A remote trolling motor would be good on the bow but man it would have to be a long shaft..
