hello everyone :)
i got my computer up and running again so i posted these flix.
the first picture was last month, now the frames are all glassed in to the stingers and i started pouring foam but ran out so im waitting for more.
my quetion is on the bilge cavity,my fuel tank is hull shaped and lays flat 4in from the transom on the stringers, not leaveing much run for an auto pump.can i put a piece of ply in every center square closeing the bilge run down except for the one closest to the stern and put a pump there?i was thinking of pouring foam in those center slots, this boat is pretty flat towards the back also ive cut the bow out to convert to a center console :D
well one step at a time.

If you are going to foam the entire void under the floor, you could do what you propose. As long as there isn't any voids that could trap water and hold it, causing rot, I can't see why it wouldn't work. I have seen it done where a piece of PVC tubing is cut lengthwise and glassed to the bottom of the bilge to flow water from forward empty voids, under foamed sections, back to the bilge area where the pump is. I foamed all my voids except my center void that runs lengthwise, and I may buy another 2 part kit and foam that as well. I have enough floatation, but I want the extra protection in case I get holed at the very center of the bottom of my boat. If you are foaming all your voids, make sure the floor is completely sealed, and use good sealant like 3M 5200 on any screws that goes into the floor. Any slow steady water that gets into the foam could start to soak in, even with the new closed cell foams, although it would take years of continued exposure. Can't be too safe...Good luck....

thanx for the advise jason,
i think ill go with your pvc thought, should i run the pvc to a deck drian? one in front & back?
also did you use 2in pvc to run all your controlls, electrical, when you converted to a center console,?
i need to get on that part.
how come you dont paint your boat? they have really good polyurathanes that lay out like a new gel coats-minus the nightmares,
have you tried the 4lb foam for your voids? man that stuff dries to a hard *** rock,i was thinking of some how applying it all under the gunnel and spash well but i havent figuerd on how to keep it up under there long enough for it to exspand, anyhow another time.ill shot some pictures of more resent work.

Re: boat project on the rise

I used 4 inch pvc for my controls. It made it very easy to run the steering and control cables. I have a thin nylon cord with a loop that is tied at both ends of the tube and is twice as long. It stays there so if I need to run a new wire or anything like that, I can tie off to the cord and pull it through.

As for painting, I havn't decided yet. It stays in the water for half of the year, and from what I understand, the paints don't hold up that long of continiously submerged. I have also considered bottom paint for below the waterline and regular marine paint for above the waterline, but in all honesty I didn't build it to look good, just to be functional. I may just paint above the rubrail.

I wouldn't worry about the drain PVC unless you will have open voids surrounded by foamed voids.

My boat already had foam applied under the gunnels, under the splashwell, basically under every horizontal surface. I replaced all the foam under the floor as it was saturated. I however can't remember the density I used. My memory has sucked lately...
