Hello,I recently purchased a 15 ft Bomber with a 90 hp il6 used it 2 times and decided to put a jackplate on i have due to bouncing around and not having any. Trim range/had to stay trim down.
Well after itook it out and adjusted it on the water putting the calvitation plate even with the bottom of the back of the boat as sugested.well running 4,500 to 5,000 it is pulling hard to the right and is a struggle to hold the wheel and if it would turn loose i would be in a bind.
Any sugeations,i turned the trim tab and nothing, not sure where to go from here. Thanks

Did you turn the trim tab/snout the right/proper direction?

I tried in both directions no differance that i could tell ,i started with port side ,which direction should it be turned.
I don't think the tab is in the water when I am running.

how solid is the transom.......when the trim stops affecting the boat and it starts to pull hard right thats a good clue that the motor is torque is twisting a weak transom. This may not be the case on your boat but its worth asking.

Solid Transom! checked all that when I put the plate on.
I was thinking that something happened when I installed the plate but what? I moved the motor and put the plate and put the motor back didn't drill any holes or anything. ,or maybe I have it too high , other than the steering it operates good where it set at though Couple of pics before and after . Thanks for the input.

Re: Boat pulling to the right

The back edge of the tab should be moved to the right.

The tab should be in the water while underway.

Motor look high, but really cant tell from those photos.
Need one with the motor down, showing position of gearcase in relation to bottom of hull.

Re: Boat pulling to the right

You need to post a picture of the motor in the down position along with a straight edge.

It appears too high and I bet you are not getting the proper bite.......you are risking the motor since it only takes a few seconds to run the impeller dry and it will blow apart.

You should be able to attain 5500 rpms too so you might be over propped. That jack plate may not be helping things.

Re: Boat pulling to the right

Okay, that is HIGH......... Try this. Drop the motor height to the bottom of the plate.....try it and make 1/2"-3/4" adjustments up after each test run. When you are running that high ....your torque steer will be wild (which your's is) and I bet left turns are tough.

Minor adjustments are best and the prop is too far above the keel.

Re: Boat pulling to the right

Update, Lowered the motor as suggested and it seemed to help but merca very little I plan to lower the engine 1 bolt hole where it bolts to the plate and try it again.
This is an observation tell me what you think there are 2 holes in the bracket in the front of the motor where the steering rod connects one is close to the motor and the other is further out would it make a difference which hole it is in. It is in the one closest to the motor and there is another hole to put further out from the engine.
do you think it would be worth a shot.
