Boat pulls hard to port at WOT

Hi,

I've got a 79 sea ray SRV 190 with a 165 mercruiser. When cursing around at low rpm's (about 2500 to 3200) the boat handles great, but when i push to WOT, the boat wants to pull hard to port. It is also very hard to move the wheel starboard when this happens. Then, as i'm dropping down from WOT to about 2000 in a hurry, it pulls hard port again. I heard that it had something to do with the torque of the prop, but i'm not sure.

have ya tried adj. the trim tab? the little fin that hangs down below the anti ventilation plate.
ya adjust it for whatever your most likely speed and trim is. any other condtion and your gonna have a little feedback from the helm. anyways, ya adj. the tab in the direction that ya steer easiest too. ie. if it steers easy to port but hard to starboard, ya adj. the tab to port. etc..

there's likely a note in your mercruiser service manual similar to the link..

Ayuh,... Are you trimming the drive Up,..??

No, the drive is usually all the way down. I am still working on playing with the trim, since my gauge doesn't work. Is it ok for the drive to trim while you are moving at high rpms?

If you are doing the trimming, yes. That is what it is designed for.

they say the same thing. pulling to would be easiest to turn to.....
