Finally. Got a re manufactured 5.7 engine put in yesterday and changed the impeller that was almost gone and new lube in the out drive. Has run great on the muffs, now on my way to give it a test run. If you don't hear back from me it means it quit on me and I am floating helplessly in the Gulf Of Mexico. My luck I would end up in Cuba instead of the Keys. This better run good or I am done. Wish me luck.

Good luck Jim !!! If it dosen't work out, try to catch the east winds.
I'll come get you near the mouth of the mighty Mississippi.

Thanks, but I made it back. Ran great, but need to adjust the shifter. It won't go back to neutral after it is in forward or reverse. Have to turn off motor and put it in the other gear. Just an adjustment I am sure.

There's a sticky in the mercruiser forum that gives a great description of the shift interrupt system.

Thanks Fed,

I'll look for it. I downloaded the manual, and I will try to adjust it tomorrow and take it out for another trial.
