Boat Restoration Project

I got an old boat I'm thinking of restoring. The title has little info and only says it's a 1967 with an unknown make/model. It has fins coming off the back of it like the old classic cars with fins. It's small (about 14 ft), seats about 5 people, has a steering wheel, and has an outboard motor. I'm guessing the last time it ran was around 1999 since that's the date on the registration sticker. The engine says "Johnson Super Sea Horse 35" on it. I've never had a boat before so I'm learning everything from scratch. Does anyone know what kind of boat it is and what the restored value of it would be? I attached a pic of it.

I thinking of selling the motor and getting a new one to replace it. I'm wondering what the value of the motor by itself would be? Does anyone know or have any guesses? I'm assuming people collect restore these old engines and would want it? It's not currently in a running state, looks pretty hammered (see pics), and sat outside in the rain for many years. So I think it would need a complete overhaul.

From the pics and age, I would bet it wull not ve worth the time, effort and cost to recondition this boat. The cost aline will far exceed the value when finnished. If you want to salvage an older boat, consider an aluminum hull'd boat, far less rot to deal with and easier to repair. Old fiberglass is useless to try and fix

The motor is worth scrap value

The hull will cost about $3000+ and half a year of your time to get it water ready

That looks like a White House hull. If it is it was probably built around 57-58.
The Ford truck would be a better value.

I would focus on the hull first. if you can get the current motor running, I would run that.

Well....the last outboard I bought new, and that was back in 2000 so my info is dated, was $10k. That was for a 2000 Honda 115HP which is overkill for this small of a boat. What I have seen on other marina's sites in my area is a 30-40HP outboard going for 5-7k. Marina where I bought my current boat has a 2023 Yamaha F30 advertised at $7200.

Suffice it to say the motor is probably THE most expensive item on a boat.

As for resale, its exactly worth what someone will pay for it. This isn't like the classic car scene where you can buy a wreck, drop $30k into it, and come out with a small/decent profit.
