When buying the parts for the seats, we ordered the seat base/slides through Larson. We really like the slides they sent, however they mount to 2 7/8" slider/post, and ours is 2 3/8". I've looked into replacing the pedestal and posts, however there's not much that will fit the size we have now. Our base is quite large, 10 1/2" and the only thing I've found that large is with 2 3/8" post, same as we got. Sending the seat base/slides we got now back isn't a good option, as we really like them, great quality etc, but it will cost us for shipping once again. The shipping costs will be eaten by us, and we've paid dearly for shipping already! The Larson dealer isn't close enough to just drive to cheap.

Because of this, we're looking at maybe an adapter of some sort. We need a post 2 3/8" but the top couple inches 2 7/8" to mount to the seat base. Is there an adapter sold that will work for this? I'm also looking into having one machined, but it's been difficult to get ahold of those who would do the work. So I figured I'd post here for suggestions. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I'll post the numbers I have below if someone has an idea for pedestals, though we'd like to keep the ones we have just find a post that we can adapt.

The old post: 2 3/8" outer diameter
Base requires 2 3/8"
Top (seat) requires 2 7/8"
Base is 10 1/2" in diameter with 6 screws holding it down
Base is 10" high
Post sticks out of the base 8 1/2" or so not sure if its adjustable, but it may be.

The problem we're having is everything in 2 7/8" I'm finding is smaller in size, 9" base which means the existing holes will be visible, even if the base will mount. This wouldn't be a clean fit since it's a fiberglass floor without carpet. It would be great if anyone knows of someone who can machine one, or weld a sleeve on or something. Only 3-4 inches or so need to be 2 7/8" the rest would be fine, and need to be 2 3/8". Thanks!

I cut circles out of wood on my bandsaw all of the time using a circle cutting jig. http://www.bluewood-designs.com/article.band.saw.circle.jig.php If 3/4 ply or similar is not workable, you can also consider star board or with a speed reducer you can cut metal on a band saw as well.

Other options could be PVC pipe? Is there one close in sizes that you could turn or sand down to fit? Here is an example of what I did to get my ski pylon mounted: http://www.shareaproject.com/pages/imageDetail,p,148,i,3887,00.html

SOLUTION !!!! www.onlinemetals.com Has 2.5 inch schedule 50 aluminum pipe that is Nominal 2.5" OD 2.875" ID 2.323"

its $17 a foot, you can order only 1 foot if you like. If you fit this over the 2 3/8 pipe then the outside will be 2 7/8. You may have to sand or file down the inside of this a little to make it fit, but thats as close as standard pipe gets. If you have a machine or welding shop in the area, they might have this pipe on hand as well.

Good luck..
