Ron,

That seat looks great! Did you replace the foam too? If I could make seats look that good I would be selling them! I know from experience that sewing requires lots of practice and patience. You have done good.

Mark

Hey mark
I used the same foam which looked good but I did put a layer of dacron over the top of it. this makes my 3rd try and still thinking of doing another before doing all four seats and you are right it takes time and patience and more practice but i never give up or at least try not to. how is your hard top comming along.

Ron

Re: boat seats

Looks super Ron -- great job. My wife gave me an old Kenmore sewing machine several years ago and said here, make a cover for your new boat. Sure enough, it just takes a little planning, a little practice, and a little patience but that first cover is still in use and its now nine years old. I also made my current cover and it's two years old.

Re: boat seats

Ron: If you heat the vinyl with a heat gun it will tighten it up and remove the wrinkles. Do a test on a piece of scrap vinyl to see how much heat it will take before you use it on your seat. - - - Good luck

Re: boat seats

Looks great. If you are concerned with areas you could have done better I got to tell you that they appear much worse to you than to anyone else. Enjoy the great looking seats.

I was amazed when I did my seats that it was not that difficult to do, and aside from the cost of the foam, it was cheap.

Hate to ask, but did you use marine vinyl and thread?

BobbyS - I will try the heat gun and see what happens. Thanks for the tip.

You CAN sew!

Please, share with us what you learned. I want to try one and haven't sewn before. What did should I do? How should I start?

If that's the sewing machine you used in the back of the picture then you should get a TROPHY!! Looks great!
