I'm going to buy a new or used Alumacraft this spring and would like to get some advice on which model to select. I have my eye on the 1860 CC jon. I fish a lot of rivers where a shallow draft is required and have always liked center consoles because of the number of obstacles in the rivers I fish. However, I'd like to do more lake fishing where chop is a concern. I do a lot more river fishing than lake fishing and expect that to continue. However, I'd like an all around boat and feel the modified V hull may be a good compromise and be a good all around boat for my needs. Will the modified V hull perform well on large lakes (like Lake Cumberland in KY)?

Re: Boat selection

Just my thoughts...
If mostly for river use, I'd say get the jon. The 1860 CC is a nice boat!
All boats are compromises. As for a good compromise?

What boats are most used on the lake? If your flat would be quite uncommon on the lake, that would tell you.
