Sounds like your in the right area, it starts on starting fluid and then dies, fuel issue. Fuel pump, bad fuel, water in fuel, clogged fuel filters, carb clogged

No you will not see spray in the carb unless you move the throttle forward. If you disengage the throttle from the shift and move it forward you should see fuel being pushed into the carb.

You might not see fuel spray if your not advancing the throttle. Also check your fuel filter, normally they don't create a complete blockage but it's probably a good time to replace it anyway. To test, you could remove the fuel line from the carb and put the end of the line in a can with a rag to keep gas from spraying out and see if any fuel comes out of the line when you momentarily turn it over.

No, waterman is talking about the steel line going to the carb. The clear plastic line is use to show if your fuel pump is leaking and it will feed excess fuel to the carb causing a flooding issue. The flood ing is not your issue. It takes very little fuel during starting to start the engine, you will not see it go in usually

Yes, replacing the fuell filter is good, but make sure to catch the fuel in something as it comes out of the line. Look at it when done and see if there is any water in it

Gas and water is much like oil and water they don't mix. You will be able to see in very easy.

Re: boat stalled wont stay running

Hello again I pulled the line off at the carb and turned the key over and it was dry no fuel I even pulled it off at the pump dry to
Here is a thought my fuel gauge does not work is there any way to check the tank for fuel we had 4 adults and 2 kids water tubing for a few hours on 30 bucks in gas I am wondering if I just ran out but what I did was put a gallon and half of gas I had in can and it still did not start shouldn't a gallon and a half be enough fuel in tank to start again if I indeed ran it out of fuel

Re: boat stalled wont stay running

One and a half gallons could start the boat if the pickup tube in the tank is in the right spot for the angle to boat is setting. If it was nose down on the trailer it probably wouldn't. Keep in mind that the engine will need to suck up the fuel long enough to fill the fuel filter and the carberator before it will run. To have this start sooner, put some gas in the filter prior to putting it on. Then crank until it fires up.

30 bucks would probably be less then 8 gallons. Your boat may get 3 miles to the gallon with adults and pulling a tube. So you may have less than 2 hours of run time before you run out of gas, maybe a little more not knowing exact numbers. Going to need to fill the tank up until you know how much you burn per hour of fun.
