boat to engine size ratio

Hi guys,
Anyone know what is a safe limit to what size outboard you can put on a small speed boat? 9ft 6?

Ayuh,... I'd think that 10hp would be a real Handful to handle...

Are you talking about a racing hull similar to a hydroplane or a pleasure boat....jon boat, semi V......

A good rule of thumb.... don't exceed the rating for the hull.

If the hull lets you a 10hp will make it fly but no one tells you to run at wot all the time.
