I have a 1999 Four Winns Sundowner 245. Over the weekend by bildge somehow got half filled with water. Not good. I was able to get the boat out of the water and will have it inspected tomorrow. Anyway, I had removed the bilge plug and got all the water out. However, when I moved the boat water was still coming out of the holes per the attached photo. What is this for? I think there is a drain in the back of the boat, but that sits higher than the water level that was in the bilge. Can someone please clarify this for me? Thanks.

Is it below the waterline? That looks like the bilge pump outlet on my boat, but mine is well above the waterline.

Get inside and trace it... Its either some sort of drain (if above waterline) or possibly an intake (if below), although since it does not appear to be screened I am betting on a drain.

Back your boat in the water(still attached to the trailer) and start checking for leaks.

Probabally the drain for the sink

I know it is neither the outlet for the bilge or the drain for the sink. I believe it sits above the water line. I had never seen water come out of it until this past weekend. I guess I will try tracing it back.

Looks like that sits below the water line.

Do you have lockers on your swim platform?

Looks to be a drain for a locker. (I have two of these on my boat one on each side same location as yours) They can leak for a while when pulled out of the water becasue the bottoms are never really even.

Best bet is to look and trace the lines.

Things that drain on a boat and come out that plug = normal

It's a drain for something on your boat, depending on the equipment you have:

1) sink
2) ski locker
3) raw water washdown

Drains work via gravity, so they place it low, but no lower than the water line.

Conversely, a bilge pump outlet, which it ain't, sits high for obvious reasons.

I was curious myself on if those were drains or not. I bought my 96 245 last year and trailered it. Took on a little water when stayed over night. I noticed that it doesn't sit below water level but with a full cooler and about 8 people it does or close enough where a wake would enter. What made me curious about these "drains" is that one of them is plugged.

Any suggestions. I just uncovered and in the process of getting her ready

Fresh water tank is located directly above that thru hull, and so is the fresh water wash down (if you have it)

Kief,

Check your owners manual. Most times they have the layout of the water system to include drains. If not then contact Four Winns and ask them for a water system schematic or ask them about that drain.

It's likely a scupper for your deck.

How are your bellows?

The OP hasn't been here since August last year, the post is two years old.

ya..... that's got to be an additional drain,, perhaps valve activated with water pressure? maybe stuck open and causing swamping?? like Greg said, check owners manual

Looks like a live well drain. Not actual drain but the overflow drain.
