I just bought a 2002 starcraft 1810 with the 3.0 Volvo Penta engine i/o on it. When the boat is idleing or on the trailer the stearing wheel turns night and easy rigth and left. When the boat is under power not matter if you are cuising at low speed or pulling a tuber is pulls to the left and you can barely turn the boat to the right. The dealership told me to adjust the trim tab on it, but i am new to boating and have no clue where to find this at all. Can someone please lead me in the right direction here. I have looked everywhere on the motor and cannot find anthing that might adjsut.

That's because the Volvo Penta 3.0l does not have a trim tab. Does it have power steering and if it does is the p/s fliud reservoir filled to the proper level?

Have you tried to run it on muffs and see if it is hard to turn to the right? Power assist steering should be nearly effortless in turning either direction. It could be the power steering pump or the actual power assist unit mounted to the transom. I have the 2008 version of your I/O setup and can generally turn the wheel with the motor running with little effort. When the motor is not running it takes some effort to turn the wheel. I'd have the power steering checked as a starting point.

When the boat is idling i can turn the stearing wheel with 1 finger. when moving it is a 2 hand deal? would this still be a power stearing pump?

Ok i went out and took a look at the boat, and found where the trim tab would or could be, there is already a hole there with a plug in it. Can anyone tell me where to puchase the replacement or the part number?
