I'm signing the papers on my first boat tomorrow and I need to make a decision on the "PassPort Premier" warranty they are offering me. The boat is a Sea Ray. Is anyone familiar with this warranty? Is it worth it, or is it just easy money for the sales guy, and a headache for me?

Re: Boat Warranty

I just purchased a new boat yesterday and did buy an extended warrenty. It covered the engine and all components of the boat except for the hull structure it self for 6 years. Changed the payment about $23.00 p/month. Yes it is easy money for the sales person but I fugured it was worth it. The other selling point for me was that if after the 6 years I do not have any claims on the policy I get the full amount of the warrenty back. Ultimately the decision is yours to be comfortable with. For me I felt it was the right thing to do. I would ask about the refund policy though, that made the decision a little easier for me.

mr<br /><br />who is offering the paper is the big factor if its searay, merc or volvo directly its a lot better than a third party warrenty company which are infamous in both the boat and auto world for doing a great job of not covering things.<br /><br />you really need to read the fine print if your expecting bumper to bumper auto type coverage you will find that its not going to happen on a boat<br /><br />one of the biggest things is getting water in the motor from owner error very hard to get covered <br /><br />tommays

Re: Boat Warranty

read the fine print. most bumper to bumper warrenties are worthless. some start pro rating things. some are more of an insurance policy rather than an actual warrenty.

Does sound like a term life insurance policy,....... Doesn't It ??? <br />What's the Interest Rate ???<br />How Small a Claim gives the Total to Them ??
