Re: Boat Waxing ??

Bluefish, It sounds like a silicone based product. They increase the UV damage thats done by the sun. Just like the Teflone ones as well.

Re: Boat Waxing ??

I have some wax that is great. It's called "Liquid Luster" You might see it under the name of "Wet Paint" One is just thicker than the other, same product otherwise. It's petrolium (Spelling?) based, Doesn't take much muscle and works better than I ever expected. I did the bottom a few years ago and added 7 mph. I did a friends old 50's boat and made it look new. I did a 2' area while he wasn't looking and he couldn't believe the difference. One application lasts for the season also.

I used the "Vertglas" system on the stripes on my boat one year ago. The stripes still look new. No waxing necessary. Just wash every once in awhile and re-apply one or two new coats in the spring.

I do need to mention it works great on stripes if you have them. They did not mention one way or another whether it would work on a boat that is all one color.

Re: Boat Waxing ??

bluefish,

All the products and method sounds good. But if you are lazy ( like me) and still want that muscle aching shine. goto wal-mart get a buffer for 20 bucks. The pad should cost another 3 bucks. first, i wash with good detergent & cleaner. That'll get out stains. Then i make sure its dry, wax it with a buffer. No muscle ache. just hold the buffer upright and ON. -- then wipe off. Man i swear it looks like new.

But if you wanna do it right, u first wash, then buff whole boat with a cleaner, the remove, then buff again with wax, then remove, the buff again with polish, then remove.

but that shine will be too good to even get dirty. so i recommend just washing it, then waxing it, the remove it.

try it. nothing beats old elbow grease.
