Re: boat weight

My experience with fiberglas boats (back in the '60's and '70's) is that in their basic form were extremely light.....like a 15' FG runabout with WS and front deck, back to back seats on both sides and a splash well would weigh out at 300#.

You could put a 30 hp engine on that with you and the lady of your choosing, a picnic basket and a couple of beverages of choice, and cruise around at 30 mph for a whole Sunday afternoon on 6 gallons of gas. Geez it doesn't get better than that.

NADA doesn't go back that far and your manufacturer isn't even listed....

My 17'4" Glastron tri hull weighs 1100 lbs dry w/o engine. A lot of the weight in my boat seems to be in the cap. After pulling it off, the hull is easier to move around, so I would think that if you had a complicated interior the weight might be higher, but I would imagine most average 17 ft boats would be in the 11-1300 lb category without the motor.

If you will go to the boat mfgr section at the end of this site they have a listing of probably 100 boat mfgrs that built boats over the years. Many have sales brochures and you can get your numbers from there.
