I have a 1995, Islander Center Con. with a 88hp Evinrude O/B on a Performance galvanized trailer. Anyone know a ball park figure on what this would weigh? I am thinking of trading my Chevy V8( cant afford the gas) for a Nissan 4 cyl with auto Trannny.
Nissan says max tow weight is 3500 lbs and I do not tow more than 50 miles occasionally and use good ramps.

Re: Boat weight

How big is the Islander? Is it a single hull or full double hull boat? I have a double hull Renken 1880 CC with the original 1993 sales brochure and it lists the boats dry weight at 1220 lbs. Add 350-400 for the motor, 500-700 for the trailer and you are right at 2200 lbs. Seems well within the 3500 tow range for the Nissan. The biggest problem for the lighter tow vehicles is in the braking. Any trailer should have at least surge brakes if anywhere near the 3500 lb range. Also you are in Florida, and we don't have hills to deal with here either.

Aluminum<fiberglass,Cuddy?
Take it to a scrap yard or recycling center/town dump where they have a scale. If its pretty level where you are and you don't push the auto tranny too hard you,ll probably be ok.Maybe you could add a tranny cooler mighty hot there.
