um, what boat?
435lbs (1350-(550+365)=435) seems awful light for a boat capable of supporting a 365lb motor.
If you got weighed at a scale, why is the total an approximately 1350lbs?
Hey all, I have been trying to figure out if the scale weight i have is close to the weight my boat should be. I guess in my mind if the weight is close to what the scale says it should mean i am not hauling around a boat full of saturated foam.
So my boat has an approx weight of 1350 lbs.
The motor weights 365 lbs.
Trailer was 550 lbs.
I dug thru your history, and this is the 2002 Glastron SX170, correct?
It's listed as being 1350lbs, for the bare boat alone, so your approx weight above isn't including trailer or motor. I don't know if the factory rigged the OB or the original selling dealer did, but either way, no, the oil IN the oil injection tank for the 2cyl outboard oil, would not have been included in the weight, nor would the fuel. So those weights need to be deducted from the boat/motor/trailer weight from the scales when you drive across them.
Batteries, maybe, but at 80lbs of a total 1350lbs, the battery would only be 6% of the total, about the weight of a 6th grader or about 10gals of water. If you're carrying water weight, I'd bet it's more then 80lbs/10gals.
I'd bet a 2001 Johnson 135 weighs every bit of 365lbs.
Ultimately, yes, if you start w/ the weight of the boat, motor and trailer from a scale, and can figure out what the weight of the bare boat is, you should have a rough estimate of whether or not there's water trapped below decks by comparing that amount to 1350lbs.
