I just picked up a 1998 Johnson 115 Ficht. I plan to put it on a 1993 Hurricane 20' deck boat (it has a 1990 Evinrude 70 on it). I will need a new boat side wiring loom. The current one is pre '96. I hear conflicting reports on wiring harnesses.
Some tell me '96 on is all the same, but it seems to me there was no "Black" plug on the Ficht, and a number of square connectors. I believe an OMC #176341 will be the right one. Can anyone confirm that?
I have a newer binnacle (post '96), will that work? Will I need different tilt/trim harness or ignition switch? Also, will I need a new gauge with check engine monitoring?
I have the motor in the shop doing annual maintenance before I mount it, I just want everything on site before the big event. After all, the boat is running great (though on the slow side) with just a 70, and I have no interest in down time. I want this to be a one afternoon swap.
