Re: Boat wiring

All inspected boats that carry more than 6 passengers are required to have the grounds fused.
Let's say for argument sake that you are right. The OP won't have this so he shouldn't be concerned.

Re: Boat wiring

Current flows from negative to positive;).

While this is correct..it is irrelevant to this discussion, and only when talking about the wires outside of the battery. Current can flow in both directions as well..I'll keep that for another discission of theory's of protons, neutrons and electrons =)

Shmeid needs to prove the two wire from the battery are good to the panel first. theres a couple of ways to do this, to each his own, but Bruce mentioned one that coud work if he make a long enough lead.

in a previous post by Shmeid he mention a connector plug.. if that is halfway between the batteries and panel I would suggest starting there..less length needed on the lead..

basic isolation of wires is what will be required and systematically moving up till you find the problem. I am familiar with all thing power so its pretty basic for me, but I dont know his skill set so its tough to lead someone when you you dont know what he is looking at or how easy it is to get to the wires..

maybe shmeid could take some pictures of the boat and some shots of the panel and places where the wire is exposed would help..?? Im sure its not that difficult to figure out.
