Boat wont go

Hello everybody im new on here,I have a 1985 Glasstream With a 60 Hp.Evinrude,I was going along at about 20 mph when there was a metalic clunk and the engine rpm went up and the boat quit pulling,it will not go forward or reverse.Please Help!!! Thanks

Please let us know the model number of the outboard. It sounds like you have a lower unit issue. With the model number we may be able to get you a diagram of the Gearcase and show you what may be wrong.

Check the lower unit oil, is there any metal particles in it?
Will the prop spin freely when in gear?

prop will not spin when in gear.oil is milkie and not very much,how much does the lower unit hold?
