I did a dumb thing and hooked up my battery the wrong way. And then i tried starting it. I then realized i had hooked up the battery wrong and fixed it. I then tried starting it and it didnt start. First thing i did was check for spark which it didnt have. The engine cranks but doesnt fire. Then i checked for power to the coils which it doesnt have also. I made sure the shut off switch was working properly but there wasnt even power going there. The motor is a 73 20hp johnson. It just started fine two days ago. PLEASE HELP! Thank You

Re: Boat wont start

I think that model may have a fuse inline inside the motor compartment. If you are lucky that is all that it is.

I suppose it just wouldnt have wrecked the magneto and maybe the condenser would it? I will try the test today and go from there
