I may have a problem. I'm 97% done with my restore, but I continue to look for another project. I scour craigslist and iboats daily. Reading, researching, & scheming a way to find me another boat. I never intended to get this way. It started with just one boat, but now I want more. I'm spying a classic aluminum boat to fish with... She just needs a little work. Maybe after that I could find a big cuddy for overnight trips, or an old pontoon for lazy family days. We're talking about buying a new house. I use to be concerned with X number of bedrooms, not it needs an over sized garage/shop and close proximity to the water. This'll pass right?

Re: Boater's Anonymous

Bad news - there is no cure. However, there are prolonged treatment programs. Lightly addicted boat-a-holics might be able to get by with a couple subscriptions to boating magazines. Some may be content to focus on building models of various boats rather than acquiring the full size item. But, as in your case (and mine) the only treatment that works is acquiring another boat (or three). Commisersating with other similarly afflicted folks (like us here in the rebuild section) can help, too. Good luck! You're going to need it...

Re: Boater's Anonymous

Were here for you buddy, if I had less kids or more money I am sure I would be the same way as it is I have to keep playing with the boat I have.( 3 daughters, 1 in college one going next year and the last just going into high school)

Hardly a week goes by that I'm not doing something to my boat, of coarse working for a boat company doesn't help.

Vendors will bring in samples of all kinds of stuff, R&D looks at then it goes upstairs and is eventually thrown away(!!!!) so I take frequent strolls thru there to see what I can pick up next, just doing my part for the environment, can't let that stuff get to a landfill and pollute the earth ya know.

After a couple years of this I was able to rebuild my 16' Sea-Nymph from the keel up for @$50, new marine ply wood, carpet, pumps, thru hulls all LED lights ect.

I am truley amazed at some of the stuff they pitch, one day they had 5 new in the box control boxxes in the trash hopper, a TT pump for a Merc I/O, new key switches ect ect.

My 2 latest aquasitions are a new in the box Motorguide wireless 55 lb troller for $100 and a pair of Rockford Fosgate Power series speakers that were free, still working on a head unit but they have several back there so it is only a matter of time...

I am running out of things to do but I am sure something will come up, it always does.

Re: Boater's Anonymous

I checked your Baretta thread and you've done a great job.

But it's not anywhere NEAR DONE, dude!

Where is the bimini top? Or the custom made convertible or hardtop?

Where are all the fancy electronics?

What about that missing remote-controlled docking light? And the built-in bow lights?

Didn't see a cool stainless steel ski pole anywhere on there.

Have you upgraded the stereo for .mp3 files? Where's the XM/Sirius satellite receiver?

No fishing accessories at all?

Yeah... there's still room to grow on your current boat before moving on to another project! LOL! :D

I hear ya. I would love to have a nice bowrider with a big outboard for crusing and a smaller dedicated fishing boat. I won't even get into my desire to eventually have a cruiser with an aft cabin..
