So much for a woman's point of view!

Only wish I had that cat around this morning.

Yeah, what's with all the women bashers in here? I know some of the guys wish they were NFL coaches....

Where did this go so horribly wrong? NFL coach's with a fetish for gay/lesbian appliances? Personal attacks? Bashing our spouse's? It should be interesting to see exactly what kind of "Lady" would join in at this point.

I have to bookmark this thread, I think it will be interesting to see what sordid turn it takes next. How cool can any of this really be without dwarf's?

Re: Boating: A WOMAN'S POINT OF VIEW

I agree with you Pointer.

This started for women only...the the men chimed in once I ranted about my point of view for todays outing.

I guess my point of view wasn't to their liking....and they told me so.

But again...this was for women. Hmmmm....do we have some posers on here?

I think maybe a deletion of this thread would be good. and not a good idea to do so again. See what you started Licket Deeeee.:p:D

Re: Boating: A WOMAN'S POINT OF VIEW

You probably represent about 10% of the women on your own. We would appreciate a more representative percentage, but the whole boating thing isn't exactly roping them in, in any great numbers. Which is a shame, as there are some very, very fine people here.

FWIW, this is a public forum, you can't just arbitrarily excuse 98% of the forum from a thread. But it is a good way to get almost everyones attention. :)

Re: Boating: A WOMAN'S POINT OF VIEW

I agree with you on the very, very fine people being here.

This forum is helpful and fun. I believe that because I am new to it...and a woman....I'll be taunted for a bit.

But that's ok.

Believe me..I'm the girly girl on the boat...and make an excellent mate. I also take criticism. But my husband doesn't. When I try to let him know the things that I learn from "Salty" boaters......he still thinks he knows all.

My husband went away far too much, and he didn't have much of a choice when it came to me taking the boat out. He goes deep sea fishing.....football/baseball games...... and well, I'm not a "sit around and wait for the phone to ring" kind of person.

I also like power tools. and yes...I've even by-passed the heater core in my Firebird Formula.

My Father taught me maybe a little too well. However, no matter how much my husband thinks...or froggy pants wishes.....:D

I hope to gain knowledge and share in some good times with you all.

Zoiks! How am I going to explain this to my wife?! I haven't even told her about my booty shorts yet! :)

We're just having fun with you because you have a strong personality. I don't think anybody is trying to give you a hard time (no pun intended).

When she said he was in the hot seat, I wasn't sure if that was bad or...good.
I always liked a woman who wasn't afraid to speak her mind and tell me what she wanted. I hate playing guessing games and I'm not a mind reader. Sounds to me like she knows whats what and isn't afraid to say so. Cool. I just hope she posts a video of her bi*ch slapping her husband when he gets out of line. LMAO

Re: Boating: A WOMAN'S POINT OF VIEW

Tammy,

I have worked with many women within the boating industry and some are every bit as good as any man I sailed with. I have worked with many who were not. It is nothing more than a personal decision to master the art or ride in the jump seat. Male/Female - It makes no difference. It is the dedication to the craft the tools you bring to the party and how you apply them.

You can do anything you want. And you have come to the right place if you are looking for assistance in any aspects of boating. I consider myself fairly knowledgeable when it comes to boats, electronics, etc. but there are some people here who have forgotten more than I will ever know. Be patient, and don't always ascribe some kind of male/female - superior/inferior posture everytime someone gives you a hard time. You seem like a woman who knows herself, why would you give a rats arse what someone else, who doesn't know you, thinks or says?

If you really want to learn boating at a more basic level, take some sailing lessons. Ton's of fun, different perspectives, unique but similiar skill set and directly applicable to power boats. FWIW, I travel almost every week, and my wife knows that I do it for us, and isn't resentful for it. She has a rich life that she carved out for herself. Sometimes I feel like I am holding her back!!!

Welcome aboard, and remember that this is a family friendly site. :)

Thanks.

See you all out there!

Am I the only active woman on here? I think I saw one other one....but not many more?

Licket D......I never get left home alone. I request it. :D

Pointer, love the sailing lesson idea. May just do that. :) (Might even try to get my husband to go as well)

Re: Boating: A WOMAN'S POINT OF VIEW

I've been a member of this board for years. I'm an avid angler, been fishing and boating since I was 3 years old, a deckhand, and first mate at times, but I also captain the boat nearly as well as my husband. He has taught me well and respects my abilities. I'm a lady (girly-girl) until its time to go boating, then its time to roll my sleeves up, chip in and do what needs to be done so we can both enjoy our time out on the water. Just like marriage, its a partnership.

I think part of boating is knowing that what could go wrong, probably will go wrong each and every time you leave the dock. We're in this together so when something does goes wrong there's no room for blame, we might get angry at the situation but not the person. Our entire focus is on what it will take to get us back out on the water.

Re: Boating: A WOMAN'S POINT OF VIEW

tnt the facts are i tease my wife alot about fishing and make jokes... she in return does the same to me. the truth is we love each other very much. and always keep each other smiling. are time together on the water is as good as it gets.so i may crack a joke or make a comment about women fishing. but the fact is i think its fantastic that women have taken up the sport of fishing. and get the hell out of that role im a house wife and fridays i play bingo. bull****. life is to short for that..get out and enjoy the water..i belong to a club i took a oath to take a kid fishing..so far this yr i have had the pleasure of taking 14 kids so far this yr that have not been on a boat or even fishing..hopefully i em helping to create a new way of life for these kids.keep them off the streets. i believe if you teach a kid to hunt and fish thell never be running around the streets saying im bored and smokong crack in the allies.KEEP THE TIP UP AND SET THAT DRAG

LadyFish,

That's exactly where I am at...but my husband is not there yet. A little hotheaded for me when it comes to boating.

Nice to meet you.

Would be nice if there was a program like this for the parents. Seems that if you let them see that there is a better way of life, maybe they would strive to provide that to their children. Unfortunatley, the amount of money being spent on clothing and purses by underpriveledged moms...could buy them a decent "get out on the water" boat.

Thanks for all of your efforts. I was a "Big Sister" once...and the enjoyment from that was priceless....but the emotional attachment that came along.....oh boy, another story.

Re: Boating: A WOMAN'S POINT OF VIEW

I think it is very attactive when women can capably handle power tools, fix stuff, and can handle the boat as well as their husbands. I think this is very similar to women finding mens 'sensitive' side or being able to cook attractive.

My wife, I will not say unfortunately, does not have any of those skills and I will admit to incidents of being an *****. I call them my ugly moments. I have since trained myself to not have these moments and have been pretty good so far.

I am also working to train my wife to how to handle our boat. She can do it all with the exception of docking, which I will be letting her do as much as she wants. I would like her comfortable enough to go by herself. But she has lots to learn about basic stuff like starting the motor, ensuring she has gas, filling the oil, etc.. she never has to think about that because I always do it and she never knew it even happened.

I also have a girl and three boys which I am hoping ot share thes skills with. My daughter is 14 and I have been training her on the basics with a 16' aluminum with a 10hp motor. That's what I learned on and it is pretty forgiving. I am excited she is interested in learning and I am probably 1 ***** moment from her loosing interest. So I am being patient.

TNT, stay around, your a breath of fresh air in this stagnant place we call dockside Chat..
