Re: boating fever

Do I really have to do this for you guys? Causes me great pain. The full moon last week. Was a beautiful week to be out in a boat. Temps in the 70's and 80's. Not so much yesterday and today. 46* now, and high in the 60's later. I may be in my cabin right now at the dock, but the heater is on and I'm staying tied up! :grumpy:

LittleRayRay,

I hear you friend.

may starts getting really nice but if your not used to the cold dress warm and remember that the water takes a lot longer to warm up but the fish will still bite.

My problem is I have know from childhood what "Alberta Clipper" and "Lake Effect Snow" means. On the shores of Lake Erie here.

Still enjoy the change of seasons and getting outside during the chill but this thread is boating fever so when I caught it, moved forward a perfectly good trip time to boat and fish, a whole month, heading into The Great White it just struck me that the "fever" had taken it's toll. That and just whining about the whiskeys and beers you folks produce........

It's all good. 24 degrees F today with 2 inches on ground with another 1" coming down. Everyone has their crosses to bear. Heck, it could be a red tide, palmetto bugs or more insects I've ever seen since a trip to SE Asia.

Somehow and soon we will all be on the water enjoying the fruits of our work.

Fair winds all.

Re: boating fever

Too cold to go boating today, it was in the low 60s, so we changed the oil and outdrive oil on my boat, then changed my buddy's oil and buffed his boat out. I am sweating now. Had to take my sweatshirt off. At least it wasnt a wasted day. Rather do the maintanance on the boat on a day like today than on a day that we could be boating. Now I have to bring the boat back to the marina and have a couple cold ones at the new restaurant. Love that place, so far. When we went to the marina yesterday there was white caps inside the marina, so it would have been unpleasant out on the river.

Re: boating fever

No more fever!!!! Took the boat out for the first time this season. Only one other boat on the lake and it was in the 70s till this afternoon. This was the first time my son, daughter in law and grandkids got to ride in the boat. Looks like they're now bitten by the boat bug, too. Oh, if I could just get them to move back from NY to CA.

For those of you who are still suffering with snow and cold temps, I will take few extra laps around the lake and crack a cold one (safely, on land) for you.

Re: boating fever

Gonna be 80 this weekend but my buddy's mother in law passed away yesterday and I have to help him fix his fence so he can bring her dogs home with him. UGH. I am going to work all night Saturday if I have to. Plan is to get out on the water Sunday. I have the fever but not because of bad weather. Every time I think boating is in our weekend something comes up.

Good Luck, rayray!

It must be nice to live in the balmy south. We've still got a foot of ice and six inches of snow on the lake.

That's a pretty fancy looking fender. Have you got a mig or a tig.

Both I work a a sheet metal shop. I put the steps on the back so it makes it easier to get in the boat on the trailer. Got to do something different with the hub caps.

But we still have a month of ice fishing until the season closes. And I will be on the water for sure in a bit more than 3 months:)
