Re: boating fever

Here in Michigan it is the same thing, cold and miserable!! I cannot believe it is April 12th and the high today is only 44 with rain:grumpy:

Sadly we keep getting these days here and there that feel like spring ... followed by another week of cold. I attempted last weekend to go out and circled the lake 2 times... with a winter coat, gloves and hat, it was 47 and windy... probably looked ridiculous but it felt good to get her out on the water!!!

Re: boating fever

it has been a long winter for sure. 2 years ago in my area was the same thing. a lot of times i'll get out late march and keep going from there. 2 years ago i tried that and then april was cold and miserable. the boat didn't get used for the whole month. this year is about like that. late march was respectable, yesterday it snowed again.
so lets hear how you guys deal with your boating fever
last fall i got a canoe. to me, it's been a saving grace already. i winterized Lime Time in late oct. but still got out several times after that since ya don't have to winterize a canoe. last outting was early dec. this spring we've been out 3 or 4 times since late march. same thing, in the canoe. while it's not speed boating, it's still on the water and both me and my 'ol lady are diggen it. me especially. i'm being lackidazical about getting the speed boat summerized. i can still get out, no freeze problems, no summerizations, no anything other than go out, come home and turn it upside down and i'm cool. so to speak...
for us, the canoe has already been a great idea..
side benifit is lack of fuel consumption too. use the small truck to transport the canoe, 1/2 the fuel useage to get to the lake. no fuel usage on the lake. so real cheap to do. much different type of boating compared to speed boating too. just another way to enjoy the water.

I'll be thinking of you in July, when it's 80 here and I'm sitting in a nice cool breeze.

In July we will be sitting with our asses in the sand and our toes in the 80 degree water on a beach looking at all boats pulled up and an ocean breeze blowing. Pretty much like right now actually, except the water is only 73.

It was -17 thursday night. Its snowing now and more snow to come. I heard that it hasn't been this cold, ever. The records only go back 120 years though.

I have to thank all in the northern climate for helping me appreciate SE North Carolina where I take the boat out all year!

Re: boating fever

The lake I frequent has over 3 feet of ice still frozen. No way this will be gone by the May long weekend. I think there will be chunks of ice in June by the looks of it.

Re: boating fever

Not as cold here as the north but we are back in the upper 30s and 40s at night. Hard to believe it is almost May with this kind of weather. We go back and forth from 80s/60s to 60s/40s. Just a messed up weather pattern. Not good for those of us who like to boat and swim

Last year, drought and very low water. This year, been raining for weeks and now some waters closed and other at No Wake because of flooding. One extreme to the other.

Re: boating fever

Yeah, I cant remember it being this cold this late in the year either. It was 68 yesterday. BRRRRRR. I had to actually wear long pants at our BBQ by the pool.

Its all good though, it warmed back up to the mid 80s today. Water temp was 79.6. I braved it though because there is no bathroom out there on the water. We did get a bit wet on the ride back in.
