Hey guys, I'm new to Louisiana (New Orleans area) from Michigan. Just bought an 87 Baja Sunsport 196 in great shape.

Been out to Lake Pontchartrain, the Tchefuncte, and the Bonnet Carre Spillway. Hoping to make it to the Tickfaw and Bayou Segnette this weekend.

Looking for a place to cruise & party. Any suggestions?

Depends what you want to do. Salt water fishing, I would go to point-a-la-hache in Plaqumenies. Also the Rigolets and lake Bourne. Then pay atention to the fish and game report on wwl or Times Piccayune.

Freshwater fishing is great in the inland lakes (Ponchatrain is more a small sea than a lake) and the Atchafalya basin.

For plesure the Tickfaw is fun they have "the propstop" which is a bar you can only get to by boat. You get to it by putting in near Manchac, and then floating up to the mouth of the Tickfaw which is at the very north of lake Maurepas.

Really there is a ton of places to boat around here, I plan to go to the Spillway tommorow, just because I haven't been since they flooded it.

Should be a good weekend to go to Pontchatrain Beach. If you go to tickfaw or lake maurepas prop stop, pier thirteen, and tin lizzies.
