My father gets "Boating Magazine" and it is for the most part a good read. Are there any boating magazines out there that you read? I'm looking for one that is geared more for the gear head boater and not for the mega rich yacht owner. A magazine that is like Popular Mechanics but for boaters. Any suggestions?

I think Bass & Walleye, a magazine put out by the same company that owns Trailer Boats mag is a little better at gear head type stuff. I haven't read it lately though so I don't know if much has changed over time or not.

Either Powerboat Reports or D.I.Y. Just like Popular Mechanics for boats.

I also like "Trailer Boats" I've found the info very helpful more than a few times and was able to apply it when doing maintenance on my boat and/or trailer.

Trailer Boats, & Boating, are both pretty good, although starting to show more of the glitzier stuff lately. Powerboats report, is like consumer reports, but after a year or so you have to give it up for a while, (How many spark plug, bilge pump, or ladder reports can you read). Pick one that a friend don't get, & swop when you're both done. IMHO, Joe
