Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

Was it just me or were the tides higher then normal this weekend? We ended up putting at rogue's harbor on thursday night. The water was almost over the docks.Friday morning we cruised to the delaware bay thru then c&d canal. Then came back and anchored at ski beach for the rest of the afternoon and evening. We went back out into the bohemia around 9pm to anchor for the night. There was some wicked wind for about an hour. According to the weather reports on the vhf there were gusts of 40 mph reported. Normaly when we achor in the bohemia i leave out about 30 feet of anchor line. This time i had to leave out just over 50 feet so that the bow anchor would grab and stayed in the mud/sand. I generaly don't use a stern anchor when staying the night

How come you stay away from that area? I love it over here, AND on the east side of TP. We like to travel.

I heard there should be a band at Sand Island this Saturday(August 6). Does anybody know what time they start? Two years ago I think they started around noon.

2 years ago the band was for Joe-a-apalooza IIRC.

I might be in. My wife ran in the rebel race a few weeks ago. I would have done it with her but I broke a few ribs a month before the race.

Awesome, who else?

That sounded REALLY good until I read this:
"Can I bring weapons to protect myself against the undead?
No. Your only weapons will be your abilities to run away and make quick decisions. Train well."

AW man, they always ruin it
Here in Pa we're serious about zombie fighting.
Guess I'll have to stick to the range- for now!

I won't be around this weekend- goin' to the Joisey Shore with the family.
That'll make 3 weekends in a row without boating.

I had to examine it real close to tell who was driving!
Weird perspective! I had to do the same.

Went out today from 1pm to 9pm, what a beautiful day. Hit Sand Island and the Susky grill.

The best part is my boat is running like a top!

Today was a nice day to be out, you lucky dog.
Good to hear she's good to go. How involved was the outdrive work?

Oh, and I'd like to thank EVERYONE who've posted in this thread for making it ONE HUNDRED PAGES.
That's nowhere near an iboats record but pretty darn impressive for us knuckleheads! :) ;)

Scott - awesome news, so excited for you guys!!! You have missed way to much of this season already, glad to hear it's all worked out now!

Tonight would have been a beautiful night to be out, you should have thrown the anchor and spent the night :)

Rob - sorry to hear you won't be out, hope that you enjoy the time with the family!

Rob,
I want to thank you again for recommending Matt Ford. He is my marine mechanic from now on. The outdrive needed the seal under where the waterpump goes. I don't have an impeller in the drive, he said that seal gets taken out a lot when you have an engine mounted seapump. He also did bellows and shift cable for me.After I first got it back, it would stall in reverse. He fixed that. I had an issue where I was slowly losing WOT RPMs. He found my dizzy with a mallory conversion was coming apart! He did a thunderbolt conversion for me. I took it out yesterday and couldn't reach 3K rpm. He met me at your ramp, we went out and did some fine tuning and she is awesome now!
Anyone local, I highly recommend him!

In other news, I was sad to see Mr Al's boat with the canvas off yesterday, at first I thought we'd be saying hi to him, but apparently his sale went through. I'll miss him, he is a super nice guy!

Thanks Brandon! We didn't get home till 10pm and if we didn't have to get home for the dog's sake, we'd have done just that!

Can't wait until Sunday!
