Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

I know I am not done for the season yet. I may not get down there again this month, but I will be down the first weekend of November if I actually have anything to say about it.

Alright on another note; who's gonna be the number 2000 post?

Just a guess here YOU

:( our season is over... magneto ignition problems (broken wires, bad ignition switch), 2 stripped spark plug holes (need heli coils installed) & broken head bolt (1 so far). Not bad for a vintage (1960 Gale motor 60hp) 2 stroke. Carbs were rebuilt a few yrs ago but this is likely the first tear down and rebuild of the power head. I have been able to locate most of the parts from various online sources. I should start another thread and photo document the rebirth.

Hopefully this board will stay active over the winter!

Alright...how about a nice crab feast? Me and John will come down in the morning and catch a couple of bushels of crabs then meet at your house to cook and eat them with whoever else from on here can make it. Everybody gotta bring their own beer though.

Time for a new Boat top. The canvas shop I use to use in Northeast Maryland closed and I need another place to have a top made this winter. Can anyone give me some recomendations?

Thanks

There's a place in Exton, Pa. on Rt100 just south of business route 30. I see lots of boats, campers and have even seen a few street rods getting tops/covers/etc. I do not have first hand knowledge of them, but there seems to be something going on all the time. I used to live near by and still have family in Exton.

Futureline Auto Tops (futurelineauto.com)

Hope this helps, Scott & Dot :)

I know of one near me in PA also but you'd probably want something in MD.

This guy is in Bel Air, Hickory really. I've used him many times over the years when I ran a body shop, and he always has boats on his lot. Ask for Shorty and tell him Scott(me) from Keene Dodge Body Shop sent you.

There's a guy here in Elkton right on 40 who does good work. He put a couple of new zippers in mine and reinforced all the stitching for a darn good price. If you want I can stop by and get his info for you. Also if you can wait until Jan or Feb, his prices are much lower. :D

Preliminary plans are to go out next Sunday during the day for a Halloween/Fall colors cruise.
The leaves are BEAUTIFUL here now.

Who else is in? I think this may possibly be our last trip, that's depending on the weather.
If anyone wants to get in on this, let's meet at the Nauti-Goose for their breakfast brunch, then head out.

I'm a definite maybe for next Sunday. I want to meet some of you forum members after a season of only seeing you on the boards. It would be a Halloween cruise so dress accordingly. What time would you meet at Nauti-Goose?
