After lunch today we're headed down to the White Cysstal area. I'm going to take some pictures each day from the east side of the bay across from Turkey point.I wonder how with all this water it will affect places like Sand Island.

Here's Bowman's boat after it broke loose from it's mooring. I hear it ended up on APG. Does anyone know how to get in touch with him?

Here's Bowman's boat after it broke loose from it's mooring. I hear it ended up on APG. Does anyone know how to get in touch with him?

Did you try sending him a PM through iBoats? Is he part of the Facebook group?

So I just left my boat on it's mooring in the susquhana river. I did give it about 12 ft of rope between the boat and the bouy.

I figure on the mooring it can pivot so the bow is always facing the weather. So it might actually be better than being in a dock.
she is a 26 ft sailboat. and sailboats are built to handle weather. She does fine in 5 ft waves. and ten ft waves should not be a problem either.

I have 2, inch thick ropes holing her to the mooring.

Sadly, this didn't work out for you for the flooding.

I tracked down Kyle's Mom. She told me the boat washed up on Spesutie island. The marine patrol is aware of it and gave her lat/long coords. The boat is up on some rocks.

Kyle is away. His family plans to go out there at high tide tomorrow, about 9:30am, and manually lift the boat over the rocks and get it to deeper water. I'm sure they'd appreciate any help iBoaters can provide. I suggested she ask Kyle to log in to this board for help.

That could be very dangerous. I sure hope his family knows what they're getting into. Good luck to them.
I just checked the USGS site and Conowingo's discharging at 632,000 cubic feet per SECOND. Thats a LOT of water!!!!!

thanks guys for all of the help and concern.
Apparently The water was not that high down by Spesuite Island.
I think once the river water hit the flats, it had enough room to spread out, instead of up.

But my folks got the boat floating pretty easily. I'm gonna go out there tomorrow to check things out.

Thought I would take a nice little afternoon cruise and I go out to this. I have a feeling there will debris floating around for a long time with all of flooding in the upper bay.

Fort Howard/Sparrows Point area. It's like a mine field out there. Hopefully we'll get some strong South winds to blow most of it out of the Patapsco and down the Bay.

I was just watching the story on the local news.
I think we might try the Elk, or the Sass this weekend, then who knows? Andrew and Ashley(CaravelleCaptain) just bought a Formula 242 and we are hoping to take it out for a shakedown run this weekend.

I'm going to stick to the Bohemia or Sassafras, and thinking about Stemmer's Run to launch from. Heck, maybe even that area is too riddled with debris (Stemmer's?) -- not sure.

I won't be out Saturday... just Sunday -- that's the plan, pending feedback about how dangerous it is.

I see the C/D Canal every day, and there are tons of logs. I work near the Delaware River, and that's a total mess.

The Chessie is a mess, too? DANG. Heck, maybe I will drag the beast down to Lewes, DE and hit the Delaware Bay, Ocean and the intercoastal behind Cape May. I can get down there in less than an hour.

I drove to stemmers Run last Friday and Sunday to check it out. The Elk was brown but clear. Water was like glass. Some of my friends went out on Saturday and Sunday the water near Cabin john was smooth and clear. Some people were jet sking both days there. There was a long junk line going from Turkey point down river for about a mile 9r soon Sunday.We won't be going down until Sunday. Have a big Car show to go to on Saturday.Will leave after the show.
