Is it springtime yet?

Is it springtime yet?

It was great seeing the UCRB gang today, especially since the weather was perfect! I'll post pictures soon. I can't believe it'll be at least 5 months before my boat gets wet again...

It was great meeting everybody today, now if I can just remember to put the right faces to the right names and boats in the future.

Wow we couldn't have asked for better weather today! :D The Admiral actually got hot in the greenhouse and I had to open one of the back panels. Got a little chilly at the Inn in the shade with the wind blowing, but hey, today's run was worth a few shivers. The only downside was that I smacked a hidden something and broke one of my transducers. Got a few tasks to finish on the 'ol gal before she goes to bed for the winter. I'll probably winterize her in a week or two. It's gonna be a looooong five months. :(

I posted on the Facebook page... but just in case... Great Sunday afternoon, and was great to finally meet some people from here! Photos are neat to look at and everyone elses ride too :D. This is one of the best boating days we have had so far. What a neat selection of boats to admire.

I found some loose throttle/timing linkage tonight!!! Just guessing here but that may have been my fuel issues. It has always (well in our few trips) been finicky but not like that. It was making me nervous. But we made the trip out and back via the water and under our own power.

Time to get ready for next season... well I now have an interest in fishing in spring of 2012. I heard Strippers are fun.

God speed and see round the iBoats! Scott & Dot

Strippers are fun, but what's that got to do with fishing?

Did you mean Stripers?:D

Scott, do you know how big Cal's boat is? I have a friend with a 42' on a triple axle and he would like to put in DE city. I thought Cal said his was close to that length and he only had trouble at very low tides.

Here's the aerial view:zzz-Del-City.jpgDE City is my launching pad.

I've seen boats easily in the 36-38' range going out of there. At low tide, you have 4' of water. You can back in pretty far on that ramp. It's a great ramp. There are walk-on piers on both sides, so spinning the boat is pretty easy: get it in, and turn it South to point down the small canal towards the C/D. The small canal always has water. It's fairly muddy, but harmless.

Cal has a 272, which is around 29' I think?

Looks awesome. So, where did you find the jack stands at? Just out of curiosity, do you have the stand tied together under the boat? I can't tell how you have it set up from the pic, but I have read that it is a good idea to chain them together right across from each other. This keeps them from being pulled out from under the boat. Anyway, just a thought, I am sure that you have it all under control.

New Boat!!!!

New Boat!!!!

Well, today I took the plunge and did it!! I still can't believe it. I found a 1985 30' Sea Ray 300 SRV Flybridge cruiser for sale over in Cape May NJ. After checking it out thoroughly, testing it and making an offer, I met today to transfer the title and take pocession of the boat!!!!! I am so excited and can't wait to start using it next year. Here are the specs of it:

http://www.searay.com/boat_graphics/electronic_brochure/company1729/1C1_27_74DERNJRC473.pdf

It has alot of extras on it that I really like!

  • Power Spot Light
  • Windlass
  • AC
  • Heat
  • Dual Helms
  • Twin 350 Fresh Water Cooled Engines

It needs a lot of cleaning and straightening out and I need to do a rebuild to both carbs, but it should be a fun project!

I have decided to leave it in Cape May for the winter. It will be shrink wrapped and stored this week. I spent today winterizing both engines and the water system. I didn't want to leave it and come back home :)

Oh yeah, it is a surprise to my wife!! So if you are facebook friends with me, please don't post anything on my profile :) I don't plan on telling her until we go to Cape May in the spring to bring it back! She is going to love it.

Not sure about the name, what do you guys think? Any suggestions? I got a great deal on it too, although, I am sure owning it will keep my pockets empty!

Well, I know all you guys want are pics, so here they are!
