Re: Boating tunes

Don't have a sattelite radio, mp3, or iPod. All my music makers run on coal. Usually bluegrass.

Re: Boating tunes

I don't have man-made music on my boat. I get my music from a purring outboard, slapping water, screaming reels and wildlife.

I also don't allow alcohol on my boat. I get my high from the above and the environment.

That said, if I wanted music to fit what I am doing I think I would go for Beethoven's sixth symphony... "The Pastorale". I also like Celtic Woman's "Sail Away".

I don't have a stereo in our boat but I have considered the sattelite radio option. What about a stereo that will stand up to the moisture?

That is where a marine grade stereo would come in, you can probably even get one here at Iboats, or I know Academy sells them.

I like my classic rock, .38 special, Lynard Skynard, and the list goes on. My brother and I don't ever have any music on the boat, SHHHHHHH DON'T WANT TO SCARE OFF THE FISH :D.

Re: Boating tunes

We have had Sirius for over 2 years now in both cars, and in our home.

When we bought our boat, it was an available option so we took it of course. 4 subscriptions, but well worth it! We listen to alt nation, octane, the reggae channel, the pulse, of course Howard Stern etc...

We also have an iPod docking station for the stereo the boat came with, so we will bring that along too. In the summer, I listen to a lot of reggae, tool, rage against the machine, sublime, 311, and such alt rock, wite a sprinkling of older rock such as zep, ozzy, maiden...

NO country! I will listen to opera, jazz, classical and anything else except the twanging of poorly tuned guitars and dog loving lyrics of country.

I have Sirius at home (Stilletto) and in my truck (Sportster 4) and I love it. We are about to buy a new boat and I considering adding on Sirius as an option. My question is...Where on your boat do you put your Sirius antennea?

Does anyone have any pictures of their setup???

My pick up came with XM satelite radio (2008 6.0 vortek max, gm Sierra) and I didn't really hink I would liek it much but i have too admit after a couple of monthes I don't think i could go with out. Its pretty cool. our new boat also has sirrius

I have attached a pic of my dash on my seaswirl, thats where my antenna is. On the right side between the wheel and the windshield there is a small white bump, thats the antenna

How does your antennea attach? I am assuming that it is not magnetic like the car antenneas are...

Re: Boating tunes

My Clarion Sirus antenna is mounted in front of the windshield on the port side. I think it is mounted with some sort of epoxy. Not sure though because I have no reason to remove it.

By the way, we used the sirius radio connection last year but will be using an Ipod this year. Between my wife and I we have 2 Ipods and we could buy a CD a month from Itunes for the sirius fee..................

Does sirius also make a victrola?;)
...just kidding, nothing serious on my boat for a sound system other than an average am/fm/cassette. Gives me a chance to use some of the 'ol stock tapes tho' from the music cellar....including some John Hiatt, Bonnie Raitt and the odd bit of Creedence.
All good.
