The only thing that matters is that YOU are up wind.

3 year olds don't pee much, so you could probably use a ziplock sandwich bag. :)[/QUOTE

Haha you'd be surprise at what comes outta this kid!

Frequency versus volume . . .

We've traditionally used the "overboard relief system," and I've actually usually got a marina within a couple of miles too. HOWEVER, if you're squeamish to going overboard and don't have room for bigger devices, there are some relief bottles they sell for light airplane use (with an adapter for the ladies) that work reasonably well.

A 5 gallon pail and a "Luggable-Lou" seat cover. About $12. Using a kitchin bag as a liner and throw a diaper in the bottom. You can also get waist solidizer that smells better too. Like said before, you can leave the wrapped bag in the bottom and just add a new liner. The pail can also be used for other things when not needed to help save room. My daughtor is off to collage now, but we use to do a lot of weekend trips in northern Michigan on our 16' fishing boat. Don't always have to just pee and the water can be too cold after first ice-out to swim.

My wife and passengers will hang over the side of our 16 footer. Although, it's worth mentioning that some people do get upset about using the rivers/lakes as bathrooms. Many campgrounds use the 150ft rule for latrines so that waste has a chance of filtering into the ground instead of directly into the water. However, most of us are of the opinion that's it's not a big deal. Definitely teach him about facing downwind. I never mind displaying the rocks to other boats, but will often use a bottle or cup if in close proximity, or will boat elsewhere to be courteous.

As a cabin owner, I also try not to go near someone's dock. It's not the ideal brochure moment for someone to walk out on their deck with their morning coffee only to see a boater's junk hanging out!

For those of you concerned about peeing in the lake, you should be reminded that urine is a STERILE SOLUTION... unless you have a urinary tract infection. It has even been used successfully to wash snake venom from a victims eyes (Cobra) saving them from blindness. Obviously a very dire situation.

So you'd be ok with a boatload of frat guys letting the beer out of the body's as they were tied up next to your swimming family? Just 'cause it's sterile doesn't mean it's acceptable ;)

To the OP, I've seen something similar to what Quad82 described on a small fishing/family boat.

Well we were out this past weekend and used a hospital type bottle urinal, worked great, small enough to store just about anywhere and easy to rinse out. I don't know what the wife is gonna do but hey that's her problem lol
